New Beginnings Virtual Concert

11am Friday 24th September 2021

What a performance! Well done everybody who worked hard to make this virtual event a success.  Unfortunately, the recording was missed at the start of the performance, however there is still plenty of musical action to be witnessed in the rest of the show.  Make yourself a cup of tea, sit back and enjoy!

Spring into Song – Virtual Concert February 2021

We marked the start of the half term holiday with a Music Festival, under the direction of music specialist Martin Jones, supported by the technological skills of Dom Gwynne. Pupils, both in school and at home, gathered with family and friends, members of St Mary’s Church and the local community and with some special guests – residents of Cheswardine Hall Nursing Home – for ‘Spring into Song’ –– all via Zoom!

Amid all the hard work and stress of juggling home learning with working from home, families were able to settle down for an uplifting hour of music.  Pupils shared their instrumental skills playing piano, ukulele, flute and keyboard, and recited poems and prayers they had written; and celebrated artwork produced on the theme of Spring.

The whole school staff formed a choir to sing ‘Tiptoe Through the Tulips’.

We were delighted to be joined by pupils from our link school – St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Newcastle, who shared ‘The Billabong Song’ song with us.  The Headteacher Mrs Mellor, also sent a wonderful message of welcome and we look forward to creating future connections and projects together.

The finale was a song composed by Martin Jones and the lyrics written by Sian Jones in which pupils, staff, peripatetic music teachers and members of the church community joined.

‘Like the sun without the moon, like a choir without a tune, like a room without a view – that’s how we feel without you.’ – poignant words as we support one another in coping with the isolation brought about by Covid 19.

Two of the ‘chat’ comments summed up this amazing celebration of the talents of St Mary’s pupils for all who took part:

‘Funtime Friday, fab end to term’

‘What a Herculean effort Martin (and Dom and performers) – a truly awesome lockdown concert!’

Please click here to view a recording of the concert.  Enjoy!

This year, instead of our traditional Remembrance Service held in church we found different ways to commemorate this important event.

We hope this short video provides a flavour of our Remembrance Service and some of the thoughtful and creative work completed by our children.

Christmas Tree Festival – Holy Trinity Church Eccleshall

December 2019

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas….well, inside Holy Trinity Church anyway!

Members of Mucklestone Music Mash choir and musicians attended this year’s Christmas Tree Festival alongside Bishops Lonsdale School. Thank you to everyone that attended to support the children.  I think you will agree that they all sang and played beautifully.

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favour rests.” Luke 2:13-14

Macmillan coffee afternoon

This week we supported the Macmillan cancer charity by holding a coffee afternoon.  Parents were, as usual, incredibly generous with their donations of delicious cakes.  The school council (supervised by Mrs Dicks) decorated the hall, made advertising posters and helped serve the beverages and cakes.  Friends and family were all so kind and we managed to raise £152.65 for the charity.  Not bad for a rainy Friday afternoon!

Harvest Festival –  Sunday 13th October 2019

Thank you to all the family and friends who attending this year’s Harvest Festival Service.  This is the time that we give thanks for all of God’s gifts to us and welcome the latest children to the school and church.  The children were able to share their research about other Harvests from around the world and perform their newly learned harvest songs.

We enjoyed a pleasant, cooler morning for our Sports Day this year.  All the children and staff thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  The sporting events were followed up by the annual parents and helpers picnic – which is an opportunity for us to acknowledge the help and support that is kindly given by certain members of the public and parents.  The winning team for the day was Amiens. Well done everyone!
