PTFA Fundraising

St Mary’s Church of England Parent Teacher and Friends Association Mucklestone (PTFA)  is a registered charity formed to ‘advance the education of the pupils by providing items or facilities not normally provided by the Local Authority’. It makes an important contribution to enrich the educational experience of children at St Mary’s.

Thanks to the wonderful support of our parents, staff and wider community last year our fundraising efforts were able to pay for French lessons, educational visits and enrichment day visitors to school for every class, every term, curriculum resources and a whole class set of IPads.

The PTFA Committee hold regular fundraising events, some large and some small, but all make a vital contribution to providing the best possible educational experience for all our children throughout their time at school, providing things that would not always be feasible for us to achieve.

We hope all parents and carers support the PTFA either by volunteering to help or attending our fundraising events. As well as helping our children, the PTFA is a great way to meet other parents and members of our community.

2024 Fundraising

Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, I would like to thank you all for your support in making our Christmas fair such a
success. We raised just shy of £1000, which will really benefit all of our children. Going
forward we have lots of lovely ideas to further enrich their Primary school experience
whilst hopefully raising some much- needed funds. These events are only successful with
your support so if you are able to help with the planning, preparation, or delivery of any
future event then please let Mrs Hill or one of us know. We really could do with more
parents to lighten the work as we are struggling. If you can’t attend, you could always put
up posters, ask companies about raffle donations, help doing the shopping for refreshment
before an event- these things can make such a difference. If you are planning to attend the
event and can stand on the door to direct people at the start, or sell refreshments for 20
minutes this will help too. You support does not need to be all consuming!
February 5th -9th, Children’s Mental Health Week.
o We would like to take this opportunity to share the love! Children will be decorating
rocks/large stone in school to sell at the end of the week. They can then buy a
rock/large stone to either gift to someone or hide on a walk to make someone
happy.
o Friday the 9th we are going to host an ‘express yourself and wear what makes you
happy’ day. This is an opportunity for children to literally present themselves
however they wish. The only rules are to please ensure they are suitably dressed for
the weather and that they have safe footwear.
March 7th, World Book Day.
o Alongside the usual dressing up, we would like to step into the world of Willy Wonka
and offer children the chance to order Wonka Bars in the hope of finding a golden
ticket!
o These will be available to PRE-ORDER only. Gluten and dairy free options will be
available.
o Prizes to include books, extra golden time and a mini gift hamper!
o Order slips will be sent out with children nearer the time.
March 10th, Mother’s Day
o We have some lovely gifts that the children can buy and then personalise in school
for a special lady in their lives. On Friday 8th March we will give the children and
opportunity to buy the gifts at a cost of £2.50.
March 21st
, Family Easter Bingo
o This is a free, fun memory making evening running from 3:30-4:30.
o This year, the Easter eggs that children bring into school (historically for the kids
Easter raffle) will be used as prizes at our bingo night.
o We will provide a light refreshments stall.
o There will be a donations tin for anyone who would like to leave a donation for their
refreshments or for their family’s fun evening.
April 10th, International Dark Skies night
o To mark international dark skies week, we are very lucky to be able to have local
artist and teacher Tania Paling Sparks coming to run an art workshop. This is an
opportunity for adult and child to work together on something special. All
equipment, paint and canvas’s will be provided to enable children and their adults to
follow a step-by-step guide to creating a masterpiece for your walls.
o This will cost £20 for each canvas you require. It is advised that children attending
have one each and their adult assists them with this.
o This master class will run from 3:30-5:30. We will have hotdogs and other lighter
refreshments for sale at the event so that nobody is left hungry.
o This is a ticketed event as we are limited to just 20 places. Tickets will be available
from the school office from February. Please book early.
June 22nd, Summer Fair
o This event will run from 12-2pm
o We hope to run this as an open community event. We plan to invite a variety of
children’s clubs/ groups to come and showcase what they do. This is an opportunity
for clubs to advertise themselves as well as give attendees new ideas to try with
their children. With this in mind if, your children attend any local
classes/groups/clubs if you could ask them if they would be interested in or able to
attend then we would REALLY appreciate it. Pass on any details of interested parties
to school or any member of the PTFA and we can liaise with them to organise this
further.
o After the success of our Christmas raffle hampers, we would like to put together
another amazing raffle with ticket books. Moving forward we feel that we will run a
smaller raffle at Christmas and move the donation gifting to a less demanding time
of year for everyone. With this in mind, we would like to request that families start
asking around for donations for this event now. If you have any links with or ‘big
spends’ with any local business, children’s entertainment, special activities or
service providers, then we would love it if you can be bold and ask the question.
o Attached is a list of companies who are currently offering ‘match funding’. Although
many of these companies don’t share this with staff, it is common that staff are able
to make a request to support a named small charity with match funding for a given
event. Please take a moment to scan through the list and if you know anyone who
works for one of the companies then please encourage them to ask about it for our
school PTFA summer fair.
o We are definitely in need of help to organise this event in particular. We want to
make it a big success, which will require lots of planning and preparation hours, so
ANY time you have to give, there will be something you can do to help.
We hope that we have something for everyone this term and look forward to your support.
Many thanks,

Your PTFA Team

One of the many ways in which you can help raise funds for our school is by purchasing Stikins ® name labels. The school receives a commission for every purchase and the commission rate raises the more orders they receive.

Stikins ® products simply stick onto the washcare label of clothes, and can also be used to label shoes and all school possessions and personal items. Stikins ® are the modern way of labelling school items with absolutely no need to spend hours sewing or ironing in name tapes; these labels simply stick in and stay in – there’s nothing more to it!

Help raise funds for the school and reduce our lost property items!
